Agenda
• Report out on identified topics
• Identify one item to pursue and present to Selectboard
Dan 3 Way Stop Signs
• Locations: South Newfane intersection
? Baker Brook Road, Post Office, Dover Road
• Dan discovered that no special permission is required from VTrans
to install stop signs on public roads
• Researched studies indicated a significant reduction in speed
• Studies including crosswalks and three way stops indicated no
increased pedestrian carelessness
• Installation of stop signs would need to comply with the town
traffic ordinance
• Selectboard would vote on proposal
Pat Education
• Effort to create a newsletter item for LGUHS including sending
village posted speeds, impact of enforced speed limits in fines, license
points and insurance rates.
• Will need to check with Superintendent and High School administration
when the school year reopens.
Chris Signage
• Attached document (copies available in Town Office or from Traffic
Calming Committee Members)
Committee Members identified a three way stop sign at the intersection
of Baker Brook Road, Dover Road and the Post Office to pursue as a proposal
for the Selectboard. Things to do:
• Contact state regarding specifics for stop sign warning
• Contact abutting neighbors to the proposed site
• Research cost of stop signs
• Consider adding to the agenda of Selectboard Meeting of June 2,
2005 the discussion and proposal for three way stop sign at the intersection
of Baker Brook Road, the Dover Road and the Williamsville Post Office
• The next meeting of the Traffic Calming Commission will be on
Tuesday, May 31st at 7:00 at the Williamsville Hall. Agenda will include
the discussion of a three way stop sign in Williamsville.
