MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING OF THE NEWFANE SELECTBOARD
DECEMBER 14th, 2006
NEWFANE TOWN OFFICE

PRESENT:
Selectmen: Patricia Halloran, Joseph Mandell, and Hendrik van Loon.
Absent: Daniel DeWalt and Christopher Williams

1. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairman van Loon.
2. DISCUSSION OF HEALTH CARE COSTS
VLCT HEALTH TRUST - 2 YEAR WAIT TO RETURN
CIGNA VS. BCBS of VT
A recent call to VLCT confirmed that if the town leaves the VLCT Health Trust, it will be 2-years before the town can become a member again (January 2009). Board members discussed the alternatives. Many of the towns, WRC and WCSD were contacted and they have decided to stay with the VLCT Health Trust and CIGNA. After further discussion, Board members decided to stay with the decision of December 11th to contract with Hillary Cooke, a broker from Northern Benefits, for the J-Plan through BC/BS of VT. Cost was the major determinant as it will save the town approximately $5,000 in cost.
3. ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made by J. Mandell and seconded by P. Halloran to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 p.m. All in favor.
