MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING OF THE NEWFANE SELECTBOARD
NOVEMBER 27th, 2006
NEWFANE TOWN OFFICE

PRESENT:
Selectmen: Daniel DeWalt, Patricia Halloran, Joseph Mandell, and Hendrik van Loon.
Absent: Christopher Williams
Also Present: Doris Knechtel, Administrative Assistant

1. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Chairman van Loon.
2. REVIEW AND DISCUSSION OF PRELIMINARY NEWFANE PERSONNEL POLICY PROPOSAL
The Selectboard reviewed the proposed Newfane Personnel Policy beginning on page #17, starting with Section 13: Retirement. VMERS is set forth by statute. Section 14: Sick Leave changes were made to &s A., B., and C. There was discussion about the sick day use of a minimum a half day. There was also a discussion about looking into disability insurance as a potential benefit to be considered for the employees. Section 15: Parental and Family Leave was discussed and the statute language was reviewed. Some changes were made. It was agreed to replace 15. E. with the language proposed by P. van Loon. Section 16: Leaves of Absence were reviewed through C., the paragraph on Vacations on page 20. Chairman van Loon will rework the order of this section along with Section 14 and 15. Board members discussed the possible need to include some definitions. Review of the personnel policy will continue at a Special Meeting to be held on Tuesday, December 5th beginning at 6:30 p.m.
3. ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made by J. Mandell and seconded by P. Halloran to adjourn the meeting at 8:40 p.m. All in favor.
