MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING OF THE NEWFANE SELECTBOARD
NOVEMBER 14th, 2006
NEWFANE TOWN OFFICE

PRESENT:
Selectmen: Patricia Halloran, Joseph Mandell, Daniel DeWalt, and Hendrik van Loon
Absent: Christopher Williams
Also Present: Doris Knechtel, Administrative Assistant

1. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman van Loon.
2. BUDGET SESSION
Chairman van Loon gave a brief overview of the budget process for the Board members. B. CAPITAL
DAK gave a brief overview of the Capital Budget plan which has not yet been discussed and reviewed by the Road Foreman. A meeting with DAK, Piet, Todd and Maureen is forthcoming. Board members may want to think about some capital improvements for the Town Office (inside and upstairs) and the Williamsville Hall for FY 2008.
C. REVENUES
Selectboard members put amounts in the various line items for the anticipated revenue budget. Some of the items will be looked into further when better information is received. Questions were raised about some of the current numbers, such as fuel reimbursement and why nothing has been received for last year. The Access Permit Fee and other line items were explained. The total other income, other than taxes to be raised, is anticipated to be about the same as the current budget.
A. EXPENSES
Board members reviewed and discussed most of page one for expenses. The Town Clerk, Listers and the Treasurer have supplied numbers for some of the line items on the first page. Preliminary numbers were put in for the various line items, also with questions for further information. No decisions were about regarding salary/hourly wage amounts. This will be discussed further for all employees and elected officials. There was discussion about possibly combining the various mileage line items in General Government into one mileage line item. The highway department will still have their own mileage line. Also discussed was the status of the Treasurer training from NEMRC. A new page #2 was given to the Selectboard for their next budget meeting on 11/29 with budget request numbers included from the Planning Commission, Zoning Administrator and Development Review Board.
3. TO TRANSACT ANY OTHER BUSINESS THAT MAY LEGALLY COME BEFORE THE MEETING
No other matters came before the Board.
