to the following minutes will be made at the 09/18/03 Board of Selectmen's
Meeting and are considered unapproved until then. Corrections will be
noted in the minutes of that meeting.
MINUTES
- SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
OCTOBER 21st, 2003
NEWFANE TOWN OFFICE
PRESENT:
Selectmen: Gorty Baldwin, Priscilla Cotton, and Gary Katz,
Absent: Piet van Loon and Chris Williams
Also Present: James O. Gray, Road Foreman and Doris Knechtel, Administrative
Assistant.
1. CALL TO
ORDER
The Special Meeting was called to order at 6:37 p.m. Gary Katz.
Motion was made by P. Cotton and G. Baldwin to appoint Gary Katz as Chairman
pro tem for this special meeting. Unanimous.
2. EXECUTIVE SESSION - PERSONNEL EMPLOYMENT
Motion was made by P. Cotton and seconded by G. Baldwin to enter into
Executive Session at 6:38 p.m. to discuss a matter of personnel employment.
Unanimous.
Motion was made by G. Baldwin and seconded by P. Cotton to come out of
Executive Session at 7:03 p.m. Unanimous.
Motion was made by G. Baldwin and seconded by P. Cotton to offer the opening
on the Highway Crew to Kevin Shrader at the rate of $12.00 per hour to
begin as early as Monday, October 27th, if possible. Unanimous. Various
forms will need to be completed for employment, health insurance and retirement.
3. TO TRANSACT ANY OTHER BUSINESS THAT MAY LEGALLY COME BEFORE
THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
A. The question was raised regarding the possible waiver of the $25.00
fee for use of the Williamsville Hall for a non-profit organization. The
Board will not waive the fee as there are costs associated with the use
of the building.
B. J. Gray reported that he is having a problem with water in the fuel
for the F-550. The work is not covered under warranty.
C. P. Cotton thanked the highway crew for the repair to the entrance to
Old Stage Road (TH#9) onto South Wardsboro Road (TH#1).
D. J. Gray reported that the beavers have plugged a culvert on Dover Road
(TH#2) by the Newell residence. The first attempts by the road crew have
not been successful in getting the culvert unplugged. It has been looked
at by state and town personnel. There may be a hydraulic study done for
possible replacement of the culvert.
E. The erosion on the Miller property (Rock River side)on Dover Road (TH#2)
was also looked at by state and town personnel. There may be some fill
added if needed.
4. ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made by G. Baldwin and seconded by P. Cotton to adjourn the
Special Meeting at 7:19 p.m. Unanimous.
