are considered unapproved until then. Corrections will be noted in the
minutes of that meeting.
MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING - NEWFANE SELECTBOARD
SEPTEMBER 8th, 2005
NEWFANE TOWN OFFICE
PRESENT:
Selectmen: Piet van Loon, Priscilla Cotton, Dan DeWalt,, and Gary Katz.
Absent: Patricia Halloran
Also Present: Kevin Behan, Constable
1. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting was called to order by Chairman Piet van Loon at 5:30
p.m.
3. TO TRANSACT ANY OTHER BUSINESS THAT MAY LEGALLY COME BEFORE THE NEWFANE
SELECTBOARD
A. Windham County Humane Society Contract - The Selectboard sent a copy
of the Windham County Humane Society Contract to Kevin Behan, Constable,
for his comments and input. After discussion of the contract and various
sections of the Animal Control Ordinance, motion was made and seconded
to have Chairman van Loon sign the contract, on behalf of the town, between
the Town of Newfane and Windham County Humane Society. Unanimous.
B. Tenco Equipment Contract - The town awarded a bid to Tenco New England
Inc., for the equipment, body and plow for a tandem truck in the amount
of $49,731 on July 7. The Selectboard has since decided to purchase a
single axle truck instead of the tandem. Tenco has submitted a revised
quotation for the equipment, body and plow to meet the specifications
of a single axle truck. The revised amount is $48,981, a difference of
$750. Motion was made and seconded to have Chairman van Loon accept, on
behalf of the town of Newfane, the revised quotation for the equipment,
body and plow new single axle truck., in the amount of $48,981 from Tenco
New England Inc. Unanimous.
2. CONTINUED REVIEW AND DISCUSSION OF PRELIMINARY NEWFANE PERSONNEL POLICY
PROPOSAL
The Board continued to review the proposed update of the current Newfane
Personnel Policy , from where they left off at their special meeting of
08/24/05, using the Town of Mendon policy and a draft policy prepared
by two former Selectboard members and the Administrative Assistant.
Information was provided from VLCT that the Selectboard may determine
the number of hours per week to be worked to be considered for full-time
or part-time employment status.
The Selectboard will continue their review at a future special meeting,
date and time to be determined. 3. ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made by P. Cotton and seconded by G. Katz to adjourn the special
meeting at 7:00 p.m. Unanimous.
