MINUTES - SPECIAL EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE NEWFANE SELECTBOARD
AUGUST 8, 2007
CULHANE CORNER
PRESENT:
Selectmen: Dan Dewalt, Joe Mandell, Peter Rysz, Guy Wachtel
Also Present: Steve Zaluzny, Brud Andersen, Todd Lawley (via telephone)
1. CALL TO ORDER
The emergency meeting was called to order at 8:45 a.m.
2. The contractor questioned whether they should install a new catch
basin at the site of the present 15" metal culvert, and replace
the culvert with a new 18" plastic culvert.
Discussion: This part of the project would be an “add-on”
beyond the present contract, whose cost ($4,700.00) is on record at
the Town office on Zaluzny’s proposal dated June 29, 2007.
It is understood that the cost will be reduced by an amount to be
determined by discussion and arrangements between Todd and Steve Zaluzny,
depending on a credit given by virtue of Newfane providing the new
18" culvert, presently on hand at the Town Garage. In addition
to savings from the culvert contribution, Todd offered to move dollars
from the present capital budget for Stratton Hill and Paving to offset
this add-on; as well as the $1,030.00 for added landscaping and $30,800.00
for north side paving of Dover Road. It was noted that the board has
already approved the landscaping add-on, but has yet to determine
how Newfane wants to treat the north side road reconstruction. Steve
Zaluzny stated that he needs to know the answer within the next two
or three weeks.
After this discussion, the board voted unanimously to approve the
installation.
3. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
