08/07/03 Board of Selectmen’s Meeting and are considered unapproved
until then. Corrections will be noted in the minutes of that meeting.
MINUTES -
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
JULY 25th, 2003
NEWFANE TOWN OFFICE
PRESENT:
Selectmen: Gorty Baldwin, Priscilla Cotton, and Gary Katz
Absent: Piet van Loon and Chris Williams
Also Present: David Clarkson and Doris Knechtel, Administrative Assistant.

CALL TO ORDER
Motion was made by G. Baldwin and seconded by P. Cotton to appoint Gary
Katz as the Chairman Pro Tem for this meeting. Unanimous.
The Special Meeting was called to order at 1:15 p.m. Chairman Gary Katz.
2. SET THE TAX RATE FOR 2003/2004
The information about the proposed tax rate was reviewed by the Board.
Motion was made by P. Cotton and seconded by G. Baldwin to set the tax
rate for the Town of Newfane at $2.45, $0.47 for the Town, $1.06 for the
State Education Tax and $0.92 for the Local Share Education Tax. Unanimous.
The rate for FY 2003 was set at $2.35.
3. TO TRANSACT ANY OTHER BUSINESS THAT MAY LEGALLY COME BEFORE THE BOARD
OF SELECTMEN
P. van Loon left a note for the Board to consider hiring an attorney for
the town and/or the ZBA for the Chandler appeal to the Environmental Court.
Motion was made by P. Cotton and seconded by G. Baldwin to hire an attorney
to represent the Town and/or the ZBA for the C. Chandler appeal to the
Environmental Court. Unanimous.
4. ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made by P. Cotton and seconded by G. Baldwin to adjourn the
Special Meeting at 1:21 p.m. Unanimous.
