SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
JULY 15, 2008
NEWFANE TOWN OFFICE

PRESENT:
Selectboard: Gary Katz, Jeffrey Gouger, Peter Rysz, Joe Mandell
Also Present: Doris Knechtel, Shannon Meckle

1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:05 p.m. by Gary Katz, Chair.

2. SETTING OF FY 09 TAX RATE:

Gary explained how the tax rate is arrived at and went over the figures.

Discussion and Question/ Answer period.

Gary noted that a few townspeople have volunteered to help figure out the deficit and that at Thursday’s meeting, he will propose forming a committee.

J. Mandell made a motion to set the Town Tax Rate at $.4323, the Homestead Education Tax Rate at 1.6788 and the Non-Residential Education Tax Rate at 1.7835. Jeff Gouger seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Budget Cutting Discussion ensued, with Gary sharing suggestions received thus far.

A motion was made by Peter Rysz and seconded by Jeff Gouger to adjourn at 6:00 p.m.
The vote was unanimous. Meeting Adjourned.
