MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
MAY 29th, 2001
VIC BENJAMIN BRIDGE (BR#51) ON VIC BENJAMIN ROAD (TH#64)
Any and all corrections to the following minutes will be made at the 06/21/01 Board of Selectmen's Meeting and are considered unapproved until then. Corrections will be noted in the minutes of that meeting.
PRESENT:
Selectmen: Mike Rohan, Jesse Anderson, and Fred Bacon.
Absent: Lynn Bedell and Richard Marek.
Also Present: William A. Noyes, District #2 Technician, Robert Bazin of Bazin Brothers, Neil Daniels of Neil Daniels Construction, two representatives from Gurney Bros., and James Gray, Road Foreman.
1. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by Chairman Mike Rohan.
2. PROPOSAL FOR REPLACEMENT OF BRIDGE #51
The purpose of the meeting was to meet with potential contractors to review the plans and the project site for replacing Bridge #51 on Vic Benjamin Road (TH#64), which is in very poor condition. The project will be considered under the State Bridge and Culvert Grant Program in which the State pays the major portion of the cost.
Wm. Noyes provided the Hydraulic study performed by state hydraulics engineers as well as a plan for the new structure which will be a 12' X 5' bottomless arch 60' long. Mr. Noyes has requested a Stream Alteration Permit from Fred Nicholson of the State Water Quality Division. A temporary access (right of way) will need to be obtained from the property owner on the upstream side of the project to be maintained during the length of the project for emergency purposes. It is believed that the property in question belongs to the Kafka's. Contractors present reviewed the plans, site and asked questions about the project. The bids for the project are due at the Newfane Town Office on Thursday, June 21st at 7:00 p.m.
3. ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made by J. Anderson and seconded by F. Bacon to adjourn the Special Meeting at 10:00 a.m. Unanimous.
