MAY 11th, 2000 WILLIAMSVILLE HALL
PRESENT: 1. CALL TO ORDER 2. MEET WITH CONTRACTORS In the kitchen area, various suggestions were made about the layout of the work area. J. Jeffers has reviewed the installation of a three bay sink on the inside wall next to the existing gas range. The pipes will be up to the ceiling area and into the mechanical room with the trap being as much up to the floor area as possible to keep it from freezing. When not in use non-toxic antifreeze could be put into the drain. J. Jeffers recommended closing in the oil tank area and insulating it as the tank is exposed in the unheated basement to the freezing temperatures. The kitchen area has a separate heat zone and could be kept at 40%. To help keep the heat in the open area at the two counter areas could have a sliding door put over the openings and the doors into the dining area could be replaced with more airtight doors. It was suggested that the range could be moved more toward the door leading to the basement and mechanical room area to allow more room for the installation of the three bay sink and a counter area. Jeffers has estimated the cost of a new sink to be $1,300 plus installation. The town will look into purchasing a used sink from various sources. Motion was made by M. Rohan and seconded by R. Dowley to hire Al Jeffers & Sons to install a used three bay sink in the Williamsville Hall kitchen area. Unanimous. Other work areas within the kitchen will be determined after the sink is installed. The work will be done after the town gets the needed sink. B. ART CAMPBELL - ELECTRICAL 3. TO TRANSACT ANY BUSINESS THAT MAY LEGALLY COME BEFORE THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN B. The Board reviewed the condition of the concrete steps in front of the Williamsville Hall that are in need of being replaced. Various options were suggested; concrete, brick and concrete, pressure treated steps, etcetera. It appears from an old photograph inside the building that the existing steps are original. The current steps are of varying heights. They should have 7" risers. A concrete contractor will be contacted to get an estimate on a cost to replace the steps and walkway area. C. M. Rohan reviewed the discussion of the meeting held on Tuesday, May 9th with Wm. Noyes on River Road (TH#15) for L. Bedell and J. Anderson. He indicated that M. Fitzpatrick, contractor, will be able to do the repair work on the worst section of the road the week before the Memorial Day weekend. The road would be closed for that time period to enable the work to be done to proceed more quickly. The anticipated cost is about $10,000. The project is considered an emergency situation due to the erosion caused by the river. It is not anticipated that a stream alteration permit will be needed because the work required will not be going into the river. Fred Nicholson, ANR Stream Alteration Permit specialist, will be contacted just to let him know what is going on. R. Dowley mentioned that the owner of the Kenolie Campground would like to have the road open by Thursday of that week to allow for campers to come in for the weekend. Motion was made by L. Bedell and seconded by J. Anderson to have contractor M. Fitzpatrick proceed with the worst section of the River Road (TH#15) project as soon as possible, leaving the timing open to allow for proper notification and other considerations. Unanimous. D. There was a brief discussion regarding the Miller v. Town of Newfane Supreme Court matter. The Listers will be contacted about their thoughts on the settlement offer. 4. ADJOURNMENT Doris A.
